Fuat Capa is a senior football executive and former head coach whose career bridges elite technical expertise, leadership intelligence and modern football governance. With professional experience across Türkiye, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland, Capa is recognised as one of the rare figures who successfully transitioned from high-level coaching into executive football management while preserving credibility in both domains.
Educated in Public Administration and Banking and later becoming the first Turkish coach to obtain the UEFA Pro Licence, Capa built a leadership philosophy grounded in stability, structural clarity and disciplined sporting governance. He further strengthened this foundation through the UEFA Sporting Director Programme, deepening his expertise in strategy, financial sustainability, transfer policy and institutional football management.
His leadership at Samsunspor represents the culmination of this evolution. After initially serving as Head Coach, (a period in which he established a strong working relationship with the club owner Robert Yuksel Yildirim). Capa was appointed Director of Football in October 2023. Today, he oversees the club’s entire professional football operation, aligning recruitment, squad planning, youth integration, performance environments and long-term strategic direction. Working within an ownership structure that also includes USL Dunkerque, he contributes to a broader international football vision.
Capa’s sporting model is phase-driven and strategically disciplined. In the club’s return to the Turkish Super Lig, he guided the process that led to the appointment of Markus Gisdol with a clear mandate centred on survival and stabilisation. An objective successfully achieved. Building on that foundation, the next strategic phase prioritised growth, competitiveness and European ambition, leading to the appointment of Thomas Reis as part of a multi-stage development plan. His leadership approach reflects governance rather than impulse; coaches are appointed to serve clearly defined strategic phases, not short-term emotional demand.
Before transitioning to executive leadership, Capa established a respected coaching career across multiple leagues. His work included spells at Genclerbirligi, Kasimpasa, Eskisehirspor, Ankaragucu, Boluspor, FC Wil 1900, MVV Maastricht, RBC Roosendaal and KFC Turnhout, along with early collaboration with Stephane Demol. Consistently recognised for ethical leadership and professional integrity, he received several Fair Play and Gentleman Awards, including the Gillette Fair Play Award.
A defining characteristic of his football identity is commitment to talent development. Across different clubs and environments, he consistently trusted young players, enabling many to progress to national teams and international careers. Earlier in his journey, his time in the structured development environment of PSV Eindhoven under Guus Hiddink further shaped his methodological, disciplined and modern football vision.
Originally from Emirdag-Türkiye and raised largely in Belgium, Capa embodies a genuinely international football outlook, operating comfortably across cultures, football systems and governance structures. His career reflects a consistent theme: disciplined leadership, structured thinking, stability in uncertain environments and a belief that long-term sporting success must always be built on institutional strength, not coincidence.
